Are 4GB cards possible on the X500?

This is a pretty common question, more so with prices of memory cards dropping by the day. If you are looking at upgrading your memory, then 2GB will be the highest for this device.
There have been conflicting reasons for this ans various results on the experimentation. Some have claimed that due to lack of support of SDHC, we are unable to utilize 4GB cards which functions on such. Others have tried to use a non-standard 4GB card which did not yield positive results. In such experiments, the card ended up being damaged and could no longer be used.
There are those who claim that due to the processor used in our devices, the Samsung S2442, we are unable to use such technology and that only numbers higher than S2443 are able to do so. This is conflicting because users of the HTC Trinity, which also uses the S2442 chipset, have claimed success with SDHC. Note however that the Trinity uses a Mini SD and not the Micro SD that the X500 uses.
So what’s in it for us? I would recommend you stick to 2GB at this time. If you must go out and get a 4GB card, then I would suggest you partition it into 2 2GB areas before using it to increase your chances of success. And do try it out before you put your money down so as to minimize losses.
I would also like to hear from those who have tried SDHC and/or higher capacity cards. Did they work for you? What were the steps you took to ensure success?
