Find out how the Glofiish M800 by Eten fares

Would it not be great if you knew exactly where your photos were taken? Called GeoTagging (or GeoCoding to some), this is a process where you add GPS co-ordinates to your photo such that you can view the exact location of the photo in a software such as Google Earth. Doing this is actually pretty easy and you can use free softwares such as Picasa to achieve this. However, it can be cumbersome with all that data logging and entry. And your Eten Glofiish X500 can do it so much easier.

  • You start by going to your camera program by pressing the Camera hard key.
  • Go to the options page (which is symbolized by a spanner).
  • Go to Format Setting. Depending on your current selection, you would get different icons. Attached is a picture for your reference.
Camera Options: Format Setting
  • Select the format JPEG + EXIF.
  • Exit the options page by clicking on the spanner.
  • You will notice a blinking icon on the top left corner (depending on your screen orientation) of your screen with the word GPS in it. It will BLINK RED when there is no fix and SOLID WHITE when it has locked on.
Camera: Red GPS Icon Camera: White GPS Icon
Red GPS icon means it is searching for
satellites. You can still take photos but
they will not be geotagged.
White GPS icon means that all photos
taken will now be geotagged. You can
view them in properties.

The next time you take a photo, the required information (co-ordinates) will automatically be captured with them.

WoW!

Now I just cannot wait to get ETEN X800 with this feature. And I have also heard that there is a way to use the camera up to 4 MP. I don’t know how true that is.

I have heard of increasing such resolutions on other devices through softwares it is only interpolation (I am not sure if this is the right term). Which means the pictures would not come out as good as say using a real 4MP device.

I used to have this feature when I had WM6, since I’ve downgraded to WM5 it has disapeared.
The “camera” app in the WM6 ROM is probably different from the one in the WM5 ROM.
