Cut The Lag Time In Answering Calls
Oct 4th, 2007 by Tariq Bamadhaj
Does your phone seem to have a delay between the time a call comes in (as in you see it on a screen) and the time your phone actually alerts you to the call (either through sound or vibrate or both)? If your answer is YES, then there is a solution to cut the out the lag.
DON’T USE VIBRATE!!
That seems to be the cause of the problem. Because you use vibrate (either on its on or with your ringtone), it slows down the phone’s reaction when a call comes in. This problem does not just seem to affect Eten devices as users of other manufacturer’s devices are also reporting the same issue.
Isn’t There A Registry Hack?
There was one and it was touted to remove the 3 second delay faced. However, what I found from this hack was that once you turned vibrate back on, the problem came back. When vibrate was off, the delay was gone.
Are There Any Other Solutions?
There are those who do not want to compromise their vibrate for various reasons and there could be other solutions though their success varies from user to user. For starters you can cut down on the number of plug-ins on your Today screen. This reduces RAM consumption which then provides for more resources for the phone. Another step you can undertake is to clean out your device consistently. This means setting aside some time every week (at least) to clear out your temporary folders and not needed files. DinarSoft’s MemMaid is one of the softwares you can try for this task.
What other methods do you use to cut down the lag?

Or you can buy a Toshiba Portege G900, switch to T-Mobile, and enjoy 70 MB of FREE RAM
I have like 4 tabs and 4 plugins in my beautiful 800×480 resolution and everything works smooth
I prefer to have such a nice machine, even with the 850 mhz lacking, than a phone so “zipped” with +30 of free ram which doesn’t even rings fast!
Why is RAM so expensive?
It will be cool if all phones would come with 512 MB - 1 GB ROM and 256 MB RAM
Yeah that would be one of my last options but it is also one of the more expensive options.
Having a large amount of ROM should be no problem and we are starting to see manufacturers putting in higher capacities. RAM is another story altogether. Not just that it is expensive but it also drains battery much faster. A 128MB RAM device would drain it about twice (roughly) as fast than a 64MB RAM device and a 256MB RAM would drain it faster than a 128MB RAM (and so on) provided they are both wired the same in all other areas.
