Find out how the Glofiish M800 by Eten fares

Apparently what I thought was a photoshopped picture of the Eten Glofiish M800 turns out to be real. Well at least in terms of the model and that a realy unit actually exists. The glofiish blog has some details, thanks to information submitted to them by their readers. You can read more about it here and check out the source of those pictures here (removed: broken link) and here. The last 2 are in Russian though.

Eten Glofiish M800 - Finally!!

I wonder why Russia has gotten a hold of the device when Eten is a Taiwanese company. And I wonder when this device will be officially announced. If anything, Eten might hold this back for a while so as to not hurt the sale of the yet-to-be-sold X800.

The design does look a bit weird, with a lot of the buttons being pushed all the way to the bottom. I wonder how difficult or troublesome it would be to push them. One thing’s for sure, the device sure looks thin and would definitely be a competitor to the just-launched HTC Kaiser.

So will you be getting the X800 or the M800? Decisions, decisions

 2 problems remain, one is the keyboard, still as some items with poor illumination, they should have the same blue colour to be all visible at night.

The back of the device should have better protection because the device seems to be supported by the camera when you put it at a table, my M700 camera little round mirror is now useless because when the device is at tables the mirror supports it, really bad engineering work, it should have better rubber support to protect the camera and for it to better stay on slippery surfaces, I hope that the final M800 comes with these 2 problems corrected

Hi PJMDS

I sure hope so too. I too face the same problem with the mirror on my X500. Even though there are rubber supports at the end, they are not sufficient to support the back in my opinion.

I have problems pressing the lower buttons of my x500 with 1 hand. Now the M800 will be a real challenge!

I hope they read more about our problems with older devices, I was watching the video of the X800 posted in http://glofiish.blogspot.com/2007/10/video-review-of-glofiish-x800-published.html , they putted stupid red circles on both cameras, don’t really know what’s their function lol , but the device still doesn’t have protection at the back, the camera and mirror will get scratch because they support the device, also the joggdial button comes a litle out of the device, that can be a problem if we use it on our pockets.
Also the video shows that the device doesn’t allways turn on when we press the power button, that’s strange

Hi PJMDS

Very interesting feedback you have there. I do agree that I am not a fan of the red circles too. If you ask me, it makes it look less professional. I would prefer if they removed it. As for the turn on, it happens on my device too when I turn it off and on too quickly. Ain’t sure why at the moment.

Hi Tariq, my M700 always turns ON and OFF without problems, only the sound buttons had problems, I fixed those buttons with tiny peaces of adhesive tape (duck tape), I’m only having 2 software problems and both are just stupid and I can’t find way to fix them, first problem is one programme that starts installing himself, it happen from time to time in a random way, can’t find what is causing that to happen, already asked for help on the eten forum, no one knows how to fix it :(

Another problem is the light on the device buttons that turns ON even when the device is hibernating, another random event triggered by some software :( , also asked for help on the eten forum without success :(

But i’m happy with my eten M700 :) , was my first ppc and I wont switch it by other device, even if it was for one iphone ;)

Tariq check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aASuL7RHJHM ;)
