VoIP better than Skype in the X800 - international calls
Nov 5th, 2007 by Xavier Baez
“I can finally hear AND understand you” my cousin said, after a 30 minute call to Ecuador. I called her using the Skype Switch, Switch, and Skype application, so everything was very nice from my end, but she was having lots of problems understanding my phone call
“I had to GLUE myself to the phone, pay close attention… I mean, I got the story, you were talking about your car, and the dealer, but, I mean, hmmm I had to pay extra attention in order to understand the basic theme of your story”
Can you hear me better now?
“OH YES. This phone call is like a normal phone call”
So do you feel I’m calling from your same City?
“No, actually I hear you a bit ‘far’ - so to speak, maybe this is like a phone call from another province, it’s not perfect, but it’s 100% normal phone call, but really close”
So, based on your hearing capability, how will you rate this phone call, compared to the other one?
“Hmm, the previous one was maybe 20%, 2 out of 10″ - Skype Out (receiver end, caller quality was excellent just like VoipStunt)
Seriously?? (knowing that she was talking about Skype)
“Yeah, it wasn’t good at all”
Ok, and this phone call?
“this one I’ll give it an 80%, you can talk naturally and I understand everything” - VoipStunt
Well folks, now I am trying 3G, to see if it’s possible to call to other parts of the world, using your 3G/EDGE connection, instead of a WiFI . I am trying FRING, SkypeOut and VoipStunt, however VoipStunt seems like the clear winner so far!
Will I still install Skpe on my Glofiish X800?
Hmm, sure, but honestly just to talk for free with people logged into Skype, and to participate in the fun chats of my work which I left in South America.
