Skype Launches New Version For Pocket PC
On Friday, Skype launched a new version of their software made for the Pocket PC platform. This new software serves to re-include devices that were removed in the previous version, namely Samsung-based processors. Eten Glofiish users would definitely rejoice at this fact but be advised that the new version does not work automatically with the Skype Receiver Switch. If you still want to make Skype calls as per phone calls, then head over to our post on making Skype work as it should on Eten Glofiish devices.
Microsoft To Buy Musicwave
Musiwave allows mobile operators to offer self-branded music applications, including full song-over-the-air downloads, ringtones, and ring-back tones and it seems Microsoft wants in. Whether it is because of the success of the iPhone with the iTunes or something else altogether on their agenda, this move will make the Windows Mobile experience a much better one for users. Now all we have to do is wait and see what they have in store for us.
A New Broswer For Windows Mobile
Zumobi is its name and it brings a new twist to the browser world of Windows Mobile. Rather than searching for content, you are presented with 16 tiles, which have been stored on a server, so you can retrieve information much faster. It also packs offline browsing as well which will make those plane rides less boring. But whether or not one can surf to any website waits to be seen. Watch out for its beta release on December 14th.
Microsoft to launch Windows CE 6.0 R2
This updated platform brings “VOIP video and 3-way audio with new VOIP technologies” but don’t expect it to come anytime soon because Microsoft still needs to create the next version of Windows Mobile and pass it on to manufacturers who will then integrate them into devices. This means that the earliest we will see this new system will be in late 2008 or even 2009. Let’s hope it lives up to its mark.
