Recently we published a new ROM for the Eten glofiish X800. It was WWE 040 0381 and some of you may have downloaded it and tried it out. Those who did claimed that the ROM did not fix the problems it claimed to, among them, that 3G connections were still under 400kbps. Well we now know that the ROM WWE 040 0381 is actually a beta ROM that is in the process of being fine-tuned. A more updated version of this ROM will be released in due time but we have no idea at the moment when this will be.

Cooked ROM E11 SL

However, if you would like to test out a cooked ROM from Eten Club in Russia, then you are in luck. The ROM that they have cooked is based on 040 0381 but adds a few nice tweaks and features to it such as:

  • Removed all applcation’s from ExtRom except for Satellite Data Update utility
  • ExtROM dump (all CAB-files) you can download here
  • SDHC driver built in
  • USSD requests are switched on
  • MMS DeliveryStatus messages are switched on
  • BlueTooth Stereo mode activated (UseJoinStereo)
  • Default Microcoft BlueTooth manager activated
  • Default Microcoft Wireless manager activated
  • Fast screen rotation mode activated
  • MS Windows Vista Today theme by EtenClub.ru included
  • Some unnecessary MUI-files are removed
  • Windows Live Messenger and Windows Update are removed completely
  • Eten Wireless Manager stack removed
  • Remote Desktop utility included
  • FlashLight on/off switcher is appropriated on Record-button
  • pBar added (just a little Launcher)

This ROM was released on November 27th 2007 and is of WWE (English) version. If you are using any other version of the Glofiish X800, then this file is NOT for you.

Download Links

Here are some of the download links which you can use to download the cooked ROM. If you need additional sites for downloads, do let me know.

This cooked ROM does look good and I would be willing to give it a go if I had an Eten Glofiish X800. For those of you lucky enough to own one, do let me know your experience with this ROM if you have tried it out.

What Is A Cooked ROM?

A cooked ROM is basically a ROM that is based on an officially released ROM but tweaked to include or remove certain features/applications. In terms of stability, it might not be as stable as official ROMs but make up for this with better features. Cooked ROMs are not supported by Eten and as such, you warranty may be void if you send in your device with such a ROM.

Whether or not you should install a cooked ROM is dependent on you. Check the source of the ROMs to ensure authenticity but also be prepared for any setbacks that it might bring. If all goes fine, you’ll get a device that usually works better than those on official ROMs.

Special thanks to DDK, Avalon and Eten Club for this cooked ROM.

Is there any way in which I could install this COOKED ROM without a microSD card?

I only have a SDHC card :(

Hi Xavier

I don’t think that is possible. Unless they created an EXE file for it. Don’t you have a normal microSD card from your X500?

Hi buhomoud

If there is an Arabic version of the X800 launched, then there should be an Arabic ROM but at the moment, I have yet to see one. Do you know if and when they will be launching one in your area?
