Google IMAP Now Works!

Google announced IMAP support some time back but for users of Windows Mobile, they had trouble getting HTML mails to appear properly. Well the time has come for us users to rejoice because it seems that Google has fixed the problem. I just tried it on my Eten Glofiish X500 running WM6 and it’s working as it should: all mails are appearing Laughing This is really awesome because no longer will I have to depend on the JAVA version of Gmail to check my mails on the go. This is so much cheaper and faster anyway. (first discovered on XDA Developers)

E-TEN Glofiish M800 wins iF design award

It’s yet to be launched (as far as I know) but it’s already won an award, the International Forum (iF) Design in Germany. That’s really great when you think about it but I sure hope it’s performance will be just as award-winning. With the current debacle at HTC with their driver issue, ETEN could really make a name for itself by providing us users with a device that doesn’t just look nice on paper, but actually functions just as effectively.

American Airlines Goes Mobile

The next time you are traveling via American Airlines, you’ll be glad to know that they now have a mobile site just for PDA users like us. With this mobile site, you can check flight schedules and even view itineraries on the go. You don’t have to worry about bandwidth as well because once the server detects that you are using a handheld device, it will automatically switch to the low-bandwidth option. But if you prefer, there’s always a link to the full HTML version.

Fizz Traveller 3.0 Is Out

Users of Fizz Traveller rejoice! There is now a new version (3.0) which looks really great. I used to be a Fizz Traveller user some time back when I was traveling more often but ever since those stopped, so did my usage. However, it’s a really great software which frequent and infrequent travelers alike would find useful. Still not convinced? Stay tuned for my review!

Get 30% Off Vspainter

If you have been holding back purchasing a license of Vspainter for any reason whatsoever, then this might just change your mind. Because you can now get it for 30% off (something like this rarely happens for Windows Mobile software) so if you have been waiting, wait no more.

Zumobi To Be Distributed With Windows Mobile

No surprise there considering that Zumobi is under Microsoft to begin with. But what I do not understand is that why would Microsoft want to introduce more bloatware into their Windows Mobile platform? For those in the dark, the Zumobi browser, while nice to look at, takes up a hefty amount of resources (over 10MB in some reported cases). Hopefully they can reduce this by the time it becomes mainstream.

Skyfire: The Way Internet Should Be?

There’s a new kid on the block and his name is Skyfire. What he does is bring real internet to the Windows Mobile platform. This means, you’ll be able to surf the web as it was meant to be. Think iPhone Safari and Opera Mini 4 and you roughly get the picture. It’s going to have a private beta for users in the US soon but no news yet as to when we will see it for sale. Let’s keep our fingers crossed on this one.

VITO FunContact Upgraded to 2.1

This just in: FunContact (which we just reviewed) is now at v2.1. VITO sure seems fast with their upgrading which is a good thing for us users. Improvements include:

  • 8 times quicker!
  • Memory usage optimized
  • Add number to existing contact
  • Left-handed support
  • Bug fixes

These are really great improvements, especially the 8 times speed improvement. I’m like, WOW! So if you have yet to take part in our prize giveaway to win a copy for yourself, now would be a good time to do so! Here’s the link once again!

The M800 has already been shipped in the Netherlands. I received mine on januari 4th, but sent it back because the paint (or coating) was falling of the device fresh out of the box. In different forums people seem to have the same problems. The phones are being recalled to the factory .. and the waiting for new coating begins …
Btw. I don’t think the phone looks pretty, that is, I would not give it an award by its looks. It has much functions though.

Hi Jan

I heard too that it was launched in the Netherlands but I do not understand why it was not done worldwide. It looks like ETEN has changed manufacturers with regards to the paint so you should be happy when the device is returned.

I guess with regards to looks, they say ‘beauty lies in the eye of the beholder’. I think it’s alright. I like the design of the V900 though. Pretty slick.
