Recommended Software

Are you using FunContact to manage your contacts? If you are, you’ll know why it’s a great contact management software but if you have yet to discover it for yourself, this review of FunContact should help get you started. Now I know that many users, while loving a certain application, may end up not buying it for some reason or other. Well if you are one such user, or someone who has yet to purchase a license of FunContact, then here’s something that would be of interest to you. We’re giving away 3 licenses of FunContact to 3 random winners. Taking part is as easy (as it has always been).

What Do I Need To Do?

Leave a comment at the end of this article. Your comment could be how to improve the software, your experience with the software or even a critic about it. As long as it is related to FunContact, your comment(s) will qualify you for the draw.

When Should I Do It?

Do it now. Why wait another day? But if you need time to evaluate the software, the last day for leaving your comments will be 2 weeks from now, which is February 11th 2008.

When Will I Know I Won?

Draws will be conducted on February 12th 2008 with the winners being announced on that day itself. I will post a list of the winners here and they (or you if you won) will be contacted via email. So do use a valid email when you enter. How else can I contact you right?

You might also want to subscribe to the site via RSS (or email) if you not already done so as this will help you stay updated very easily.

Is There Anything Else I Need To Know?

Nope. It’s a simple contest. Leave a comment and wait to win. Leaving more comments = Higher chances of winning. So instead of writing all your feedback on 1 comment, you might want to spread them out over several comments. Just a suggestion Wink

Do I Need To Register To Enter?

Absolutely not. You do not have to register to leave a comment. However, one license shall go to a registered user who leaves a valid comment. And since there are not many registered users at this time, I must say the chances of one winning is pretty high.

Well that’s about it. I don’t think I left anything out did I? Good luck to all!

At first glance,it looks like the phonepad found in my phone! Are you sure it is a new product? Got to do better than that right?

I have tried the demo of this product on the first version. The speed did not impress me. There were other free applications out there that were free and faster. As reported here they have made some improvements on speed and features. It looks like I may have to give it another try.

Excellent application,
The only thing I would improve is the loading time, but other than that it is great.

This app looks great. I love the way it allows us to browse contacts. However, i wonder what it adds compared to the freeware called pocketCM Contacts

I tested and really liked this program. It just took to long to load, otherwise I would have bought it (and its memory footprint was to large to leave it running all the time). Maybe the new version loads faster, as fkfs9 pointed out.

Have installed and tried. 1 of the fast loading and switching to other page as compared to 2 other brands I have installed and tried. Comes with the common contact list and favourites and call history. However, if it can come with a sms threading, then it will be best. So from 1 place I can asses the contact list as well as trace my sms sent & receive from a particular contact name.

Looks like a fun app. Would be interested in an in-depth comparison with PocketCM.

noticed 1 more issue. when on the Contact list, pressing the ‘A’ button will display a keypad, pressing it shows number on top. However, it will search the contact list with those Alphabet corresponding to the number pressed. NOt sure if this is special or bug, other software will list out those contacts with the phone number pressed.

Thanks FunContact, i installed the free trial and finding contacts has never been so easier. The looks, the feels and the navigation… So much better than the generic contact-manager…..

Well there surely are great improvements from the previous version. The T9 support is much appreciated. Works quite well even when installed on the storage card. I have about 800 contacts and it even loads better and faster than the previous version. Scrolling is smooth and fast. Overall a great improvement. The only problem I found was that when minimised it really drained a lot of my battery very fast. Since this was the only new program I had installed I do blame it for draining my battery. I don’t know if its an issue with my phone (O2 XDA Mini S, WM5) or something else, but I definitely saw a battery drainage. I hope this can be improved in later versions. Another issue was while typing in the T9 the letters don’t show up but it shows numbers instead, if this is fixed it will not be confusing. Otherwise a great program keep it up.

I’ve always had a softspot for programs that can link up some of my contact pictures to numbers being dialed. im a visual user though, perhaps!

My current contact manager is PocketCM so I will making comparisons to this program.

+ displays more contact info fields than PocketCM
+ can create a new contact and add/edit fields without using WM contact app.
+ smoother scrolling than PocketCM
+ finger scroll direction more consistent to PointUI (which I also use)
- Takes longer to load than PocketCM
- PocketCM doesn’t display this either but where’s the birthday field?
- No small thumbnails in the contact list screen

I found this program a few days after i bought my htc 6800. it is very nice and simple to use. i had the trial version on my 1st phone, then had to take that back cuz it was defect. so now i see this and would love to get the full version.

I too have pocket cm right now cuz its free, but i find it very hard to try to touch the tiny abc’s on the left of the screen to try to scroll to certain contacts. whats the point of making a touch frindly program if the letters arent big enough to hit? that being said, i hope this new version of fun contacts will avoid that mistake that pocket cm made.

it would also be nice to be able to dial right from the phone pad in fun contacts, cant do it on pocket cm either, you can only select from contacts already in the phone. so it would be nice while in the contacts, still be able to just dial a # thats not listed as a contact…cuz the dial pad is nice and big and responds a bit quicker then my standard dial on the phone.

Hi, this was the best software that i’ve used as compare to pocketCM. It’s faster, clearer, better design and many more. Just trying my luck, if not i’ll intend to buy it after my trial period is over.

No complaints on speed and overall appearance.
Wish it can filter contacts based on categories.

I’ve been working with this for a week or so, and one suggestion I’d make is to have two vertical bars (light color, semi-transparent) to show the left and right margins that indicate pick-a-letter-of-the-alphabet (left of the left margin bar, right of the right margin bar) vs the scroll function that covers most of the listing screen. I occasionally still jump to some random part of the alphabet because I try to scroll too far to the right or left.

It would also be great if there was a single button to dismiss the screen rathe than going to the menu to choose it… and if I’m exiting, it takes menu/exit/verify, which seems like a lot of steps just to get out.

Currently, it doesn’t seem like this application could be a stand along contact manager. If I want to change (for example) the ringtone for a contact, I still need to get to another program (Pocket Informant, for example) to do that update. I think I would use FunContact more if I knew I could get to all the contact info I needed in one program. I definitely prefer the UI to anything else I’ve seen.
