How many of you use your Pocket PC devices to record audio notes, be it for reminders or something else? I used to be one such user for a while until I felt it was easier to just enter the data into my personal information manager (PIM). Anyways for those of you still using audio recording, here’s some to take note off.

The next time you are going to be recording, you might want to record it to Memory Card first and then transfer it to your storage (Micro SD) card. Or if you are more analytical, find out how much space 10 seconds of recording takes up and then see how much you can record. Then then next time you need to record, make sure you do not exceed that time. Why so specific you ask?

That’s because if you were to record to maximum capacity, your card will somehow become inaccessible. And it seems that it cannot be fixed. I myself am not sure what is causing the problem or why it just does not stop recording. But after reading daoverclocker’s account on it, I thought it would be best to share it with you.

So be warned the next time you decide to record for long periods on your device. Hope you found this useful.

I personally use Resco Audio Recorder to record my phone calls directly to the SDHC card, usually it works fine but had some strange problems with the SD card, sometimes I get warnings from programs like Newsbreak that the SDHC is missing but after restart the program all is good, also had a very strange problem, after soft reseting the device the SDHC card was recognised like a new one and renamed, all the software installed on the card stopped working :(
I put a new rom on the device and experienced no problems so far, still using the same way to record calls, it works fine 99% of the time, it’s good for me ;)

Hi PJMDS

I used to have that problem on my X500 with the WM6 ROM too but thankfully it does not happen too often (maybe once every 2-3 months). However, I no longer record voice messages because I find it more productive for me to just enter them as a task or note (depending on the nature of the content).

On a side note, I notice you have yet to take part in the VITO FunContact. Why not?

I record the calls because I’m to lazy to write what people say to me  , my brain keeps the important stuff but sometimes it can miss something and the recorded file saves me  until I take the proper notes.

Regarding the VITO FunContact prize, it’s not the kind of software I use, any contact manager than comes with the rom is more than enough for me, I don’t make much calls with the pocket pc.

I will gladly participate next time if the prize is with another kind of software, maybe opera mini or opera mobile
or even a game ;)

best regards

Interesting. I haven’t done much voice recording but from what I’ve done with Resco Audio Recorder, it seems fine. I did experience some weirdness with SoundRec, a Palm OS voice recorder and did the save to RAM first and then transferred to the SD card later. The recorded file was so weird and the sound was like fast and then slow. I tried it on another brand SD card and it was okay. Could be a software compatibility problem. Don’t know.
