Are You Going To Win Some Cash
Feb 5th, 2008 by Tariq Bamadhaj
If you have not already heard, I’m giving out some cash prizes for the month of February and participation couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is leave valid comments at the end of each post. Valid comments are comments that are related to the post so if a post discusses a software review and you talk about your Pocket PC dying on you, that’s not valid. Anyway, the competition seems to be shaping up pretty nicely with PJMDS in the lead with 15, brayndeded in second with 4 and spmwinkel in third with 3. It’s only been 5 days since the competition started so you have loads of time to catch up. And here are some tips for doing so.
Register On This Site

If you have not already done so, I would urge you to register for this site. With registration, you don’t have to constantly key in your details everytime you leave a comment because you are already logged in. Other benefits of registrations also include the ability to easily manage which posts you subscribe to as well as the convenience when posting in our Forum. Click here to register.
Subscribe To Our RSS Feed

If you have not already done so, I would urge you to subscribe to our feed. Why? Because you will know when a new post is published. Also, at the end of each post in that feed, there are links as to how many comments are made, like the one in the screenshot above. Clicking on the link would take you to the comment section where you can leave one.
Latest Articles

There are times when you visit the site and see that you might not be able to contribute to the current post. No worries, there is a list of the 10 most recent articles which is located in the sidebar, towards the bottom with the heading Latest Articles. See which articles you are familiar with and leave your comments there.
See What Others Are Saying

There is a box in the sidebar, towards the bottom, with the heading What Our Readers Are Saying. This shows you the last 10 comments made on the site. See what others are saying and post your thoughts such that you engage in a conversation with them. For example, A might say that he likes a certain software after reading a review post and lists some of the drawbacks. B could then continue and say that those drawbacks can be overcome and shows the way. C might come in and list other advantages not covered in the review.
By doing this, you are contributing to the conversation and future readers can learn from your insights. Not to mention that you will be increasing your post count
How Do I Know I Am Winning?

This is a really transparent competition so there is a leaderboard called Top Commentators also located in the sidebar, towards the bottom. You can see, in real time, who are in the top 3. The number in the brackets show how many comments they have made for the month so you can see how much catching up you have to do. An added bonus for commentators with websites is that your name will be linked to your site, so when someone clicks on your name, they will be taken to your site.
Do You Have Any Other Ideas?
Well those are some of the ideas I have listed out. I am not going to list out all so that you can add your own in the comment section below
First prize is $30, second is $20 and third is $10. All in US Dollars and all will be sent via Paypal. Feel free to read the rules here.
Update: PJMDS has requested for an RSS feed for the comments. This is similar to the RSS feed for content but instead it syndicates (collects) comments only. Keep track of the conversation. Here’s the link.

Okay, I’m now registered not that I’m really going to go for winning the prize, but so that I’m no longer a guest.
Hey maceyr
Welcome to the community and good luck in the contest. Too bad I can’t take part
You already do this but I just wanted to say that I always love it when there’s special discounts for software. And I have to say that the discounts found here are so much lower, so keep up the great work! And the contests are great! Love it! Thanks!
The ppc software is very cheap compared to PC software, why not just give free copies instead of discounts ?
The more people using certain software the more free advertisers that software will have
