For those in the dark, February 7th marks the new year in the Chinese calendar and so I would like to wish all our Chinese readers a Happy New Year. May this year of the rat bring with it good fortune, health and luck to you and your family. For those unaware, the reason for the difference in new year is because the Chinese use a different set of calendar for calculating dates (called the lunar calendar).

Gelukkig nieuwjaar!
(Dutch for “happy new year”)
Actually, the Chinese lunar calendar is based on the cycles of the moon phase, as opposed to cycles of the sun (in our 365 days calendar). Depending on the year, Chinese New Year can be near the end of January to mid February.
Gong Xi Fa Cai 恭喜发财 !
Thanks for the clarifications
