Just wanted to give you a quick update on my side for the lack of posts the last couple of days. I’ve had to do some upgrading on my end and as such, was kept busy pretty much of the time. It’s not a regular thing but something that, when happens, takes up quite a lot of my time. Don’t worry, the site is still functioning as per normal. There will be Part II of the Developer Series on Saturday and Link Love on Sunday.

Next week, I am going to try something new with this blog. What exactly? Well you have to check back to find out. And for those of you unaware, the FunContact 2 giveaway will come to a close on February 11th with winners being chosen on the 12th. So if you have yet to take part, this might be your last chance.

The cash prize giveaway is also going really well with the top 2 spots being hotly contested. It’s still not too late to join because the month is still young.

Before I end of on this post, I would also like to hear from you how things are going and if there is something that you would like to see, like a feature on this site or even a post or guide or review. Feel free to let me know in the comments below.

On a side note, this site has just reached a new milestone today with 300 RSS Subscribers! Thanks to those who have subscribed and those who have yet to, join us now

Let’s make a movie about the RSS feed subscribers and call it “300″
Cool to know I’m one of the Spartans.

Personally the bar at the top of the screen annoys me a bit, but I assume that it’s helpful to direct more users to the places you want them to go.

As for the rest, I like the comment subscription feature and just the contents of your posts. Keep up the good work!

Nice one spmwinkel. Can’t believe I missed the parallels when I was typing it out :P
Thanks for the suggestions. I will keep them in mind when I make the changes.

I’m just curious, how does feedburner count the subscribers ?

I’m not too sure of the exact method but I hear it increases the count by one for every unique subscriber that retrieves the feed for the day. So say you check your feed twice or three times a day, it would still count as one. If you are a subscriber by email, the count would also increase by 1 for each email sent to a subscriber.

However, there are those who think it works differently.

I second spmwinkel’s suggestion about removing that top bar. I also find it annoying. Maybe if you can set it so that once we’ve seen it that it could go away (via cookies) or whatever?

 kill the top bar, it’s wasting to much space on my LCD

So it seems we’re all agreed about the top bar - it needs to go!

There’s also something strange going on in this thread with some comments appearing as if they’re in a “strikethrough” font.

Alright guys, I have edited the top bar slightly such that it no longer floats at the top. I need to keep it at the top though for site announcement.

Is there anything else that you would like to suggest?

Thanks, much better this way! Can’t think of anything else that really needs improvement!

SO much better this way! This was as annoying as the Flock bar that comes up when I visit places like Flickr, Facebook, YouTube and whatever since it tends to load up stuff I don’t care for.
