i-mate Adds 8502 and 9502 To Their Ultimate Line
Imate introduced their Ultimate Line quite some time back with a range of models. However, very few of those models actually made it to production. But now, i-mate has officially added the 8502 and 9502 to their line. These include the HSDPA and HSUPA data connections, TV Out and GPS. The 8502 comes with qVGA and a front QWERTY keyboard, like the BlackBerry (which I love), while the 9502 is a VGA and side-sliding QWERTY. No word on pricing or arrival date but definitely devices to look out for. [via Engadget].
Alpha Version Of PointUI Home For VGA Screens
It’s not fair that just because you have 4 times the resolution on your VGA device compared to the majority who only has VGA that you are not able to try out some great applications. PointUI, developers of the Home application, has heard your cries and have now come up with an alpha version. So if you are using a Glofiish X500+ or X800, this is your chance to get up to speed with what many are calling a great software. Since it’s alpha, expect many bugs though. [via jkOnTheRun]
T-Mobile Says 3G In Summer, Android in 4Q
If yesterday’s news of T-Mobile (US) didn’t convince you that they were going to launch their 3G network soon, then this piece of news might just convince you. That’s because, this time it was their CEO Hamid Akhavan that mentioned it and he also added that it was going to be the best 3G network in the nation. No word on the firm date though. [via Engadget]
Hands-On With Toshiba Latest Offerings
Over at MWC, the Mobiholics team had a chance to play with the upcoming G710, G810 and G910 from Toshiba. Specs of the device and videos included for those keen. [via Mobiholics]
It Plays Quake
That’s just how powerful the NVIDIA APX2500 chip is. Wow! Eten are you listening? [via Engadget]
XPERIA X1 Comes With Windows Mobile 6.5?
Even before it’s launched, people are wondering which OS the XPERIA X1 would run. Many thought it was the Windows Mobile 6.1 with a layer of customization over it but it seems that it’s more like Windows Mobile 6.5. I’ve not heard about that platform but it does seem possible because it’s something that we’ve not seen before. [via Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine]
eXtreme Agenda Releases V3.1
For those of you looking for a new personal information manager (PIM), you might want to check out eXtreme Agenda which has just released v3.1. You may not have heard about them because they were more focused on the Standard version of Windows Mobile. However, now that they have entered the Professional field, they bring with them a rather interesting software. [via pocketnow]
WebIs Releases Pocket Informant 8.01
I have been wanting to do a review of Pocket Informant for a while now but have been holding back due to the bug release. Don’t get me wrong, I think the software is great but I thought that because they were actively working on the bugs and Alex promised a new version would be out soon so I held back. Now that it’s finally released and a lot of the bugs seems to have been resolved, stay tuned for my review soon [via WebIs Press Release]

Looking forward to the PI review! After doing a couple reviews myself I have great respect for people who take on the task to review PI because it’s such a feature rich application. So thanks in advance!
I do agree that this is a rich application and I am not sure how long it’s going to take me so it might be so soon. Want to make sure I got it all covered. Maybe I shall do a series on this?
Hmm probably not. It might be fun to have a second episode to look forward to, but that’s just right now, for us. The majority of the people who will read the review after googling “PI 8 review” and then come to your site. They will want to read the entire piece, so spreading it will give them an extra step to take in order to read the full review.
I think it would be smarter to finish the review first, and then post it.
Point taken. Now to think of how to make a long review easy to digest
Expect something new
Do it multimedia. Voice clips, youtube video’s, etc.
Just make sure you use titles to split the sections on Agenda functionality from the Tasks, Contacts, Notes and Settings sections etc. I do like the idea of different posts and then linking from one post to the other, it would be better for the review… It just also brings uncomfortabilities (is that a word?) for the readers, like ending up on the second part when googling the review instead of on the first chapter.
Looking forward!
You just read my mind. I will definitely have to put a lot more thought into this.
Hehehe. It’s not like I censor the news, just reporting what’s out there
Thank you for this
I wonder when will the new iMate be released, seems like an awesome device. I might sell my Ultimate 6150 and get that one, although I’d say I prefer to have Nvidia and play SkyForce reloaded, maybe, if the speed is around the same, sure, I can forget about video games and go for the keyboard version
Overall, the iMate Ultimate 6150 is the best phone I’ve had, it’s pretty amazing. As any other phone, it’s not perfect, but the quality of the phone is second to none
Thanks for announcing this
No worries Xavier. I like the 8502 like I mentioned because of the front QWERTY which is very rare on Windows Mobile devices. Not sure yet on the exact specs but you’ll have to stay tuned.
Tariq, there is nothing out there that makes a good review easy.
Trust me, after I finished my review of PI8, I was exhausted.
And now I have Extreme Agenda coming up in March (I had just been waiting for the new release to come out).
Doug
Yeah sadly there isn’t. I can forsee many drafts and rewrites on this one but once I get through it, I could pretty much do a mini support for the application here. Oh yeah I am thinking of looking at eXtreme Agenda as well. Looks to be offering some really nice features.
Cool. Looking forward to the review!
Tariq,
I have been very impressed by the features on Extreme Agenda. From finding your contacts on Google Maps to the view spinner and even an included secure wallet. I think it has a little less polish than say Pocket Informant, but this is more than made up for in the extra features — most of which are boith useful and usable.
Doug
Thanks for the heads up Doug. I heard about the spinner too and I think it’s pretty awesome. If I am not wrong, PI has done something similar (though not exactly a spinner) with PI8 in their View function? But the Google Maps and wallet features definitely make this one of the more all rounded PIMs I’ve seen.
