Windows Mobile News On February 15 2008
Feb 15th, 2008 by Tariq Bamadhaj
So we’ve come to the last workday of the week but not before I cover the news. For more interesting articles, be sure to check back on unday for the weekly Link Love. There were some rather interesting articles that happened during World Mobile Congress that did not really qualify as news so I put them into Link Love. Anyway, here are the headlines that made the cut:
Windows Mobile 6 Bags An Award
Love it or hate it, this award speaks volumes about the platform. From the World Mobile Congress, Microsoft bagged the Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service with Windows Mobile 6. Congratulations Microsoft. [via msmobiles.com]
Hands On With Eten’s New Devices
This is more of a Link Love article but I think you can’t wait to hear about it. Paul from MoDaCo had some hands on with Eten devices and while they are just a short summary at this moment, he’s promised more information later on. In the mean time, check this out. [via Mobiholics]
AT&T Tilt ROM Update Here
It seems that the folks at WMExperts got a tip that a ROM update for the Tilt was coming and true to their sources, it is now here. You can get software version 1.62.502.0 from HTC’s site. Improvements included device freezing during unlock process when a password is enabled on the device, Pocket Outlook unresponsive when launched while on an active voice call, Fast Forward and Rewind not working with Bluetooth headset and the Tilt, DTMF tones for the slide out QWERTY keyboard not working, intermittent unresponsiveness from Touch Screen (aka Start Button Issue) and excessive background noise while using a BT headset. Samsung i780 The Best One-Handed QWERTY Keyboard?
Well msmobiles.com certainly thinks so. I too prefer a one-handed QWERTY keyboard, those devices with the QWERTY keyboard on the front ala BlackBerry. However, due to an agreement between HTC and Palm (or so I hear), HTC fans will never get such an offering. However, if Palm’s offerings don’t cut it for you, the Samsung i780 might just be the one for you. [via msmobiles.com]
CoPilot Expands Points of Interest with Live Search Integration
Users of CoPilot rejoice as you will soon get a souped up version of the software that integrates Live Search features. One thing that traditional navigation software like CoPilot and TomTom suffers from is the lack of updates of POIs and with this new integration, you could soon be searching for new services that may not be reflected in the map. That’s all the news for today. Don’t forget to check back on Sunday for the weekly Link Love.

I own CoPilot Live 7 and I wonder if this new update applies to new owners or everyone? I don’t see the option of getting the update.
It looks like this might be in the next version but you never know. Contacting CoPilot would be your best bet.
Cool to see the ROM update for the Tilt. I now hope Orange in the Netherlands will also start working on an update for my Kaiser, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’d rather have an update to WM 6.1!
I think you should be getting that ROM update considering how new the Kaiser is.
I think the Tilt ROM update is something that has been hugely anticipated and good to know that it’s officially available.
If I didn’t get the Treo 750, I probably would have gotten the Tilt aka TyTN II
The V900 looks very good, I want one

Me too! Me too! I would love a V900 looks + TV + M810 keyboard. Dream device.
