Find out how the Glofiish M800 by Eten fares

Recommended Software

Officially, there has been no new ROMs from Eten since they released the WM6 upgrade for the Glofiish X500 back in May 2007. That lack of ROM updates has caused several users to try and cook new ROMs for their X500. So far, those ROMs are running on Windows Mobile 6. But now, there is a new ROM for the X500 and it’s running on Windows Mobile 6.1. This ROM is a combination of Eten’s last official ROM (EUU X500 WWE R01 032 0436) and HTC Kaiser’s Build 19199.1.0.0 (which I assume is also not official).

What’s Great About This ROM?

Windows Mobile 6.1 About Screen Glofiish X500 System Information
About Screen System Information of Glofiish X500

Well for one, it’s running Windows Mobile 6.1. Early reports suggest no problems with running it on your Glofiish X500 but it might still be too early to tell if there are any critical problems with it.

On top of that, this is a clean ROM with nothing extra inside. If you were to clean an X500 ROM, you would only get about 50MB of storage space. This ROM gives you about 77MB of Storage and 32MB of RAM. Which is rather generous and the biggest I have seen for an X500 ROM.

Great! Where Do I Get It?

For now, you can only get it here. The file is password protected so you’ll need one to unlock it (PhamQuang). Due to the legality involved, I will not be hosting this ROM on Eten Blog. You will have to get it from this link instead.

Is It Safe?

Like I said earlier, so far it looks good but not enough testing has been done. There might be undiscovered critical flaws, there might not be. If you do not mind the risks involved, go ahead and try it.

For those of you who have tried it, what are your impressions of the ROM?

Thanks to bobas007 from Eten Users Forum for this information.

Hi, I realised the 6.1 cooked rom for x500 comes with the SDHC.cab. (read from eten-users). I’m not sure if it will be automatically installed when the x500 is flashed with the cooked rom or it is an optional .cab . For my case, my microsd doesn’t support the SDHC so just to inform fellow x500 users :)

Looks like the author has taken the link down. If it resurfaces again, I will be sure to let you know.
