I know exactly what you mean because I faced the same problem as well when I sync-ed with Outlook after creating a new Profile on it and those problems that you mentioned occurred. Thank god I had PIM Backup which made the restoration process quick and painless.

It has it's own thread at the link you provided, but the discussiong is rather off topic quite quickly I believe. What's important is that people backup their data and keep that backup. After getting everything set up I also had some instances where my PIM data doubled and even tripled, so I had to remove all that and restore my PIM data again. I really hope that these are just problems getting started, and that I won't experience them any more from now on.

I'm glad to hear that you have finally found a solution. Maybe this solution deserves it's own thread as I doubt you are the only one facing the problem.

Just installed everything, and while I did have some issues getting things set up properly (I lost my PIM data during the first sync, so had to restore it from a backup in order to make it sync correctly on the next synchronization), everything seems to be working correctly now. I'll try this for the next 21 days (the BirdieSync trial) and purchase the license if it keeps my data synced without problems.
Thanks so much!

Tariq, I've just bookmarked the topic about syncing without Outlook, since it is a problem I've been having for two months now, and have never been able to find a solution for. Since purchasing my new laptop with Vista, I also had to get Office 2007, and my version didn't include Outlook. (The CDRom that came with my TyTn II only had Outlook 2007 TRIAL, and the CDRom from my Wizard had Outlook 2002 which doesn't work on Vista)

So I'll read the entire topic tomorrow and will try to set it up afterwards. If it works, you've filled a major gap and I'll be extremely happy with you and your blog!

As far as web apps go, I'd really rather stay installing apps for now, I don't really feel safe having my personal data in "the cloud", and also unlimited data plans should first become general practise.
