ACER Buys E-TEN

IN a rather surprising move, ACER has made a move to buy E-TEN and executives from both sides have approved the deal which they hope will be tied up by summer of this year. With this deal, ACER can now explore “entirely new solutions” in the mobile world. This also means that E-TEN’s influence would be getting (a much needed) increase in the United States. Whether this also means that consumers will be getting better support from the company waits to be seen. Read the article here. Maybe I should change the name of Eten Blog to something else. Any suggestions? [From Pete via Email]

SBSH Launches New Website

SBSH had a pretty great website in the past, easy on the eye and just as easy to navigate. But that did not stop them from having a site revamp and coming up with something refreshing. Improvements include device-based and platform-based navigation, new support utilities such as support ticket systems and specific applications FAQ section and an making it easier to stay up to date with them through RSS feeds and on the website. Well done SBSH. This new site looks really good and I am sure users will have a pleasant time navigating it. Visit their new site if you have not done so. [via SBSH Press Release]

Round Of Upgrades At WebIs

IF you are using WebIs products, then you might want to take note. Their ever-popular (and I think the best) PIM application for Windows Mobile, Pocket Informant has just been upgraded to 8.02. I could not find a release history but I bet it fixes a lot of the bugs out there. Also on the upgrade list is JournalSync to version 2.1. If you use the Journal feature of Pocket Informant, you will need this application to get your journals to sync with PC Outlook. [via WebIs Press Release]

i-mate’s US Office Shuts Down

There are rumors as to what exactly caused the huge layoff at i-mate’s US division in Redmond, Washington but the fact of the matter is that most of the staff there is now gone. I am not sure just how i-mate plans to increase sales with a very, very thin workforce but I guess they have a plan. And hopefully that includes getting their Ultimate line of devices into market. Google2Go 2 v0.492B

IN what started out as a personal application has quickly grown to a favorite among many. Significant changes include new Google icons, fixed issues with SIPs, removal of non-Google products and now support for portrait and 240×240 screen resolutions. The 240×240 solution though does not have Driving Directions, Finance, Blogger, or Product Search icons. No news yet for those using VGA devices but that might just change in the future. XPERIA X1 On Track For 2008 Release

Ignore the rumors that the X1 will only be released in 2009 because it came straight from Sony Ericsson Corporate Vice President of the Global Communications Aldo Liguori. Exactly when is still anybody’s guess but second half of 2008 is what’s confirmed at the moment. Are you planning to get one? [via Engadget]

Jawbone Releases Limited Edition Headsets

Based on their current models (I assume) but getting a re-design are these limited editions Jawbone headset. (Aptly) called Sweet Talk, Dirty Talk and Trash Talk, there’s no news yet on where or when you can get them. And being limited editions, you can expect the prices to be rather premium (not that it already isn’t) and to sell out quickly. Will you be getting one? [via Josh Spear]

Thanks, as always. I did see the rumors that the XPERIA was delayed, so I thought “Oh yeah, same story, happens all the time”, but if I wouldn’t have read it here, I would have missed that it isn’t delayed at all, at this point.

As for the name of the blog, first wait and see how Acer will treat the name Eten. Perhaps it will stay? And if Acer renames it, perhaps only rename it when you know the new name?
On the other hand, me as a TyTn II user also really enjoys this site, but that was only after you contacted me and I checked out your site with more interest. If I would have just seen the name EtenBlogDotCom on another blog, I would have thought “Well I don’t have a Eten device, so why would I visit that?”
You might get more readers with a more general name.
But then again, you do focus your content on Eten devices, ROM’s, etc…. Hard choice, think about it carefully before making a decision. :)
