Spb Mobile Shell Upgraded To 2.0
One of the best selling software for the Windows Mobile platform got a major upgrade today. Some of the new features include more functionality in one tabbed window, full screen dialogs for weather and time, animated transitions, navigation with gestures and quick panel selection with taskbar gestures. But that’s not all because there are a host of other improvements as well. Do check out Spb’s website to see if you qualify for a free upgrade. Even if you don’t, this is one software you would want to check out. [via Spb Softwarehouse Press Release]
VITO Technology Release iWindowMobile Communication Suite
Let’s face it, VITO’s new lineup of software that was released on their iwindowsmobile.com website go well hand in hand. And VITO realizes this as well and as such, have decided to come up with a Communication Suite. This suite contains their 4 best selling applications which include GoodWin, FunContact, SMS-Chat and ZoomBoard and is aptly named as such. Purchase separately, you would be paying over $60 for it but this suite will only cost you $39.95. That’s like paying just under $10 for each of these great software. Maybe VITO read my Developer Series and decided to offer a bundle

Google Gears For Windows Mobile
That’s right. It’s just arrived and currently only limited to Zoho and Buxfer for the time being. When you first go to the mobile versions of these web applications, you will be given the option to install Google Gears and after that, you will always be connected even if there is no network connection on your phone. So the next time you are on a plane and need to look through your Zoho documents, you can rest assured that it is a possibility. Hopefully, there will be even more support from other web applications in the (very) near future. [via Google Mobile Blog]
New GPS Software For Windows Mobile - PLT7
There’s a new software solution for the Windows Mobile platform in town and it’s free. You can create you own points of interests (POI) and on top of that, you can even track your trip on Google Map as well as let others locate you online. And for those who treasure privacy (who doesn’t right), it even has a PIN that you can set so only those who have your PIN can track you. Be sure to check them out here. [via msmobiles.com]
PocketGear Closing Its Doors
Sadly, another software house is closing down and this time around, PocketGear is the victim. That’s because Motorcity has decided to cease non-profitable and non-core businesses operations (not sure which one in this case) ever since its merger with mobile information business unit of InfoSpace. Have you used PocketGear? Where will you be moving to next to purchase your software? [via WRAL]
Yahoo! onePlace Coming To A Pace Near You
It seems like Yahoo! is really pushing forward with mobile content. First with Yahoo! Go, the company is now working on onePlace which should launch with another application, oneConnect in the 2nd quarter of 2008. So what exactly is onePlace? To quote, ‘Yahoo! onePlace will give consumers a single location to consume all of their information contextually, keeping it updated (so they know, for example, if their flight times have changed) and instantly accessible whenever and however they want it.’ Sounds interesting don’t you think. Wireless Developer Survey Needs Your Thoughts
I got this from Windows Mobile Team Blog and I think it might appeal to the developers here. Let me just quote them as they cover it nicely and succintly:
Recom Research is running a wireless developer survey and offering participants a free copy of the findings, as well as discounts to the Wireless Developer Forum Conference in Cambridge on March 10-11 and a chance to win a wireless application development package.
