Problems With Server Resolved (Almost)
Mar 14th, 2008 by Tariq Bamadhaj
Over the last couple of days, Eten Blog dot Com faced some server problems. It all started when my host decided to do an upgrade and from there, everything went downhill. Unfortunately for me, neither I nor my host had the backup for my site and as such, had to manually try to see what the problem. It caused me so much headaches that during this whole period that I have decided to switch server. So now Eten Blog dot Com is on a brand new host which will serve everyone better.
Many Thanks And Appreciation
Before I go on, I would like to thank Doug Goldring of Gear Diary (and used to be Just Another Mobile Monday), Stefan Winkel of spmwinkel_PPC and Bryan Burkholder of The Tech Turf. These guys helped me by advising me on steps to take and/or informing the readers of their about the downtime at Eten Blog dot Com. Thanks guys for your support.
And many thanks as well to all the readers who emailed me asking me what happened to Eten Blog dot Com. There are just so many of you and I really appreciate your concern.
Lack Of Updates
As a result of these problems, there were no updates over the last few days. My apologies for that. There were some posts that were lined up and while they were published correctly on the homepage, RSS subscribers would not have received them in your feeds as per normal due to some backend issues. In short, you could read the articles fine on the site, it just weren’t being transmitted to the feed.
And for those who searched for something and was brought to Eten Blog, you were given a 404 error page, no matter what you searched for. While the homepage worked fine, all links to internal posts were down. So you could only see what was on the homepage and nothing else.
No Emails
Most of the problems are fixed for now. You can navigate the site, receive feeds from it and search for it as well and it works just as expected. However, emails are not fully working at this moment. I can still send emails as per normal but I will not be receiving your emails as immediately as before. That’s because I am transferring my domain to another company and as such, this process can take anywhere between 24-72 hours. At the time you are reading this, it’s been about 12 hours since the process started. Not to worry, if you send me an email, I will still receive it, eventually. It will just be delayed until then.
Update: If you have sent me an email on March 14th-15th 2008 and have yet to receive a reply from me, please send the email again as there was a problem.
