The RAM (or lack of it) does not bother me when I do a clean install but then again, I don't run 4-5 applications at one time so I don't encounter such slowdown. It all depends on your usage. I do agree that phone manufacturers can't make as great software as these software developers (with the exception being PhonePad by HTC. I think that is one of the best SIPs, in my opinion that is).
